Empty Gestures (2016)
Two figures synchronously perform a series of unrepeating hand gestures to the quiet beat of a metronome. Empty Gestures
presents an intimate fragility of clumsy hands, faulty memory and precarious unison.
Empty Gestures was an early but important work for us. We think of it as our 'party piece' –always ready to be attempted if the mood is right. After each performance, the string of gestures grows. We envisage ourselves performing it for a while.
