Durational performance for exhibition spaces. 4 hours approx.
First presented at Rich Mix (London) September 2015.
Floorplan (2015)
Two figures take turns to either lay down or rip up lines of masking tape on the gallery floor and walls.
They pause, contemplate, observe one another's actions before making a move. The work takes on the form of a board game, a chess match – a back and forth with unclear rules.e
Each line shifts the space: a proposition that evokes a future possible architecture, of unknown scale or purpose.
Floorplan draws from architectural plans, temporary marks made directly in space in building sites, and abstract composition to continually and ambiguously change and rearrange a space of both the performers and viewers.
